In this tutorial we will use a simple Rhodes piano sound and modify it using a side-chain effect. We will manipulate the the attack and sustain of the sound in several different ways using compressors and gates that are driven by a control layer. Then we will use other effects such as verbs, delays, distortion, and modulation to alter the tonal qualities to create something much different than what we started with.
The goal of this tut is to give you some ideas about routing sounds, layers, and combining effects can change something very basic into something that is complex. You can apply these techniques and ideas to other instruments and expand your arsenal of sounds and creativity.
