The sub bass in a track is the foundation for the song. It provides the low end power and weight. that the song needs, to be a professional track. But this is true only if the songs are played on sound systems that can reproduce sub frequencies.
These days, music is mostly consumed through headphones or laptop speakers, both of which cannot reproduce sub frequencies.
So all the hard work that is put into sub bass will be inaudible for the majority of listeners.
That's why it is essential to create a sub bass that not only sounds powerful on big sound systems that can reproduce sub frequencies, but also for smaller sound systems.
