Using keyboard commands in Apple's Logic Pro X can significantly speed up your workflow and make using Logic Pro fun and intuitive. But with literally hundreds of keyboard shortcuts, it can be difficult to find the ones that will speed up your unique workflow. In this quick tip, I will introduce you to a great website that will help you quickly and easily reference every Logic Pro keyboard command to help you in your production workflow.
Logic Pro Key Commands
LogicProKeyCommands.com is a utility website created by Dennis Driesschen (@danskitwit), and is dedicated to Logic Pro users. Logic Pro Key Commands allows you to quickly reference all of Logic Pro's key commands from versions 9 and the newly released Logic Pro X.
When you first visit the site, you'll see an option to select your version of either Logic Pro 9 or the new Logic Pro X by clicking on the MacBook Pro's screen with your version by using the left and right navigation arrows.
Once you select your version of Logic Pro, you'll be taken to a new page with a virtual keyboard and an extensive list of key commands. Directly under the keyboard you'll see two options to select your keyboard and layout. Selecting a different layout will give you a nice animation as it changes to your selected keyboard layout. Next to the keyboard and layout options is a search field that you can use to search for key commands.
Right below the keyboard image and layout options is an extensive list of all the key commands in Logic Pro. You will see a description of the function next to the actual key command to press on the keyboard. You can scroll through the key commands and when you hover over one, that will interactively highlight the various keyboard combinations for the selected key command.
If you want to browse the various key commands by section, you can use the section options to the left to quickly jump to the area you want to browse. The section options are ordered in a logical flow from top to bottom that mimics the basic music creation workflow; starting from general navigation and then focusing on more specific areas of Logic Pro's user interface.
Keyboard shortcuts can significant speed up your workflow inside of Logic Pro by allowing you to quickly and seamlessly navigate the program and not have to search for an option or open a drop-down menu to access a certain function. With this great website bookmarked for quick access, you have at your disposal a quick, and more importantly easily navigable, reference for all of Logic Pro's key commands.
